Hey papa.
Since I was little I was a mama's boy.
But truth be known before that joy.
I was daddies buddy.
Yeah I remember how you loved me.
I was a little image of you looking up.
Only wanting a hug.
I can still hear Bob Segar playing.
I think of you every time he gets to singing.
And the night you scared us from beneath the bed.
I thought the boogie man had me and I was dead.
You were my daddy.
Then you were gone as if a dream.
From time to time I'd see your face.
I knew you cared as your love for me wasn't a waste.
I really didn't understand what had happened back then.
But every time I felt alone I thought of you being at least a friend.
Mama kept you away for unknown reasons.
Stopping by when you could, no matter what the season.
I kept a place for you in my heart.
Always have from the start.
And I hope you know I was in heaven in Zanesville that one winter in 89.
My daddy came for me once upon a time.
More years fell away as I thought of you.
Becoming a daddy myself I felt the love from you.
Turning my devotion to my own little me.
I gave him my longest running dream.
To be the daddy I knew when I came into this world.
My mothers name was Phyl and my daddies name was Earl.
Finding you a bit to late I learned.
Moving just before contact the moment escaped.
Even missed grandpops by a few months and some odd days.
Then out of the blue there you were.
Looking for me in return.
My ol man!
I knew you cared.
Know after everything, I love you to.
All I want is to put us back to use.
We lost so many memories never made.
But here we are, today.
Trying to find the pieces that fit just right.
Putting a puzzle together of our own lost life.
I don't know how much time we left.
Just know if needed I'd give you the heart outta my chest.
I've missed your presence every since I can remember.
When I was young I always thought we'd be forever.
I forgive what needs to be forgiven.
For we are still living.
I now have a brief moment to spend with you.
Something through the years I wanted to come true.
So from me to u I just wanna let u know.
As the emotions behind the hidden tears that flow.
You are my Daddy and I am still Butchie.
I have only one question and that is, how much did you miss me?
You see hearing your voice always makes me smile.
So if you could keep calling every once in a while.
Because through they years of growing from a wee bit lad.
It w
as worth every moment to finally be able to call you my dad.
I just wanna be a kid again as you hold me in your arms.
Maybe once again let me drive the car.
I love you daddy....... can you say I love you son?
I don't wanna wait til it's to late and life is done.
This is not the easiest thing for me.
On this situation I've never attempted to speak.
It's something I've hidden and tucked away.
It's funny how life has its own weird way.
So if this strikes a nerve and pulls a tear down your face.
Know your not the only one that cried as emotions raced.
I just had to tell you that your the only daddy I have.
Finally, with a chance to make it last.
I hope this gives you some comfort in your heart.
As i lifts the bars.
I hope this gives you some comfort in your heart.
As i lifts the bars.
Ol man, papa..... ur still my daddy!
